Nicola's Book Reviews

My name is Nicola Frugtniet and I will be writing book reviews on books I have read and enjoyed! Once a month I will be putting a review in the newsletter for infants and primary!

Primary Book Review
Book: Finders Keepers
Review: Finders Keepers is a novel written by Emily Rodda. It is a story about a boy called Patrick, he has a younger brother: Danny, and an older sister: Claire. Patrick gets invited to play in a game of chance… to find lost objects, but through two different worlds, his world and the world beyond the barrier. Patrick needs to find the objects to win the prize, but challenges come his way. Will Patrick win the game or will he go home empty handed? There are two books in the series and the second one is called The Time Keeper.

Infants Book Review
Book: Scaredy-Cat Fish
If you have read the other Rainbow Fish books you will enjoy this one! The author of Scaredy-Cat Fish is Marcus Pfister. He is the author of all the rainbow fish books that kids love! Scaredy-Cat Fish is about Rainbow Fishes friend Spike teasing everyone because they have a fear of something. But when Rainbow Fishes other friend says she isn’t scared of the sunken ship Rainbow Fish thinks he is brave enough to face his fears……..
Book: Down in the Woods at Sleepytime
Mama Bear, Mama Hedgehog, Mama Rabbit and Mama Toad can’t get their children to go to sleep but Grandma Owl has the answer to their troubles!

Happy Reading!!!!!!!

Let's change our photos!

Year 1, 4 and 5 took photos using PhotoBooth. They inserted the photo into a PowerPoint and then used the software to create different effects. What do you think?

Madeline

Kinder heard a story about a young girl called Madeline. It is a very, very old story written a long, long, long time ago. It was written in 1952.

Madeline lived in a city called Paris. It is the capital city of a country called France.

If we wanted to get to paris, we would have to catch a plane. It would take all day and all night to get to Paris.

You can watch a video about Madeline. It is different to the book.

Here are some picture of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was built in 1889. That is a long, long, long, long time ago.

This is the Eiffel Tower. It is very tall. You have to walk up 1,665 steps to get to the top! You get a lift if you don't want to walk.

At night time, the lights on the Eiffel Tower sparkle. It is very pretty.

Woolworths - Receipts for Books

Do you shop at Woolworths? The store is currently running a "Earn and Learn" program to help schools purchase books.

As we are still in need of books for the children to read, we are asking that parents and family members send in any Woolworths dockets over the value of $10 to school library.

All dockets collected will help develop our reading collection.

More details to follow...

Start today.... Thank You
